I had originally added in caching of the prepared resource, and reusing it instead calling prepare again, but from what I have found, MySQL is caching the result anyways, so there is no real difference.
I would like to find a way to combine these with the original functions without causing backward compatibility problems. I will see what I can come up with.

We will then begin to move to utilizing the PDO library (unless we vote otherwise).
ADODB is being left included for now until I can rewrite the Syslog plugin.
