Both demos read their CLI output through command substitutions, where
bash does not apply errexit. When the ownership check refused a
same-named Pod another party owns, the refusal was ignored and the exec
went into that very Pod. A failed read of the Pod's phase or owner was
likewise read as "no Pod", so the helper went on to delete and replace
a Pod whose owner it had not seen.

Every step of the Pod setup now returns on failure, and the phase and
owner reads tell a missing Pod (--ignore-not-found) from a failed read.
