## What this PR does Objects owned by a role the Postgres init-job drops no longer end up owned by the `postgres` superuser. This covers a user removed from `users` and an orphaned managed `<db>_admin` or `<db>_readonly` role. Before dropping such a role the job reassigned everything it owned to `postgres`, and objects a tenant role created should not become superuser-owned. They now go to `cozystack:orphaned`, a NOLOGIN role that is granted nothing. The init-job creates it and resets its attributes on every run. The `:` in the name is outside the charset allowed for user and database names, so values cannot declare it. There is a trade-off. Grants and memberships of the dropped role do not carry over, so a view or function it owned that ran with its owner's privileges can lose access it had through them. To keep such objects working, keep the user in values or move the objects to another owner before removing it. `docs/operations/backup-classes.md` is updated accordingly. Role names read from the catalog now reach SQL as psql variables instead of being spliced in by the shell. The queries are echoed after substitution, so the job log shows which role is dropped. Tested with helm-unittest and by running the rendered init script against PostgreSQL 13 and 18. ### Screenshots Not a UI change. ### Downstream repositories - [x] No downstream repository is affected by this change - [ ] [cozystack/website](https://github.com/cozystack/website) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/terraform-provider-cozystack](https://github.com/cozystack/terraform-provider-cozystack) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/ansible-cozystack](https://github.com/cozystack/ansible-cozystack) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/ccp](https://github.com/cozystack/ccp) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/talm](https://github.com/cozystack/talm) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/cozyhr](https://github.com/cozystack/cozyhr) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/cozy-proxy](https://github.com/cozystack/cozy-proxy) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/cozystack-telemetry-server](https://github.com/cozystack/cozystack-telemetry-server) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/external-apps-example](https://github.com/cozystack/external-apps-example) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/examples](https://github.com/cozystack/examples) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/community](https://github.com/cozystack/community) - follow-up: ### Release note ```release-note fix(postgres): objects owned by a user removed from `users`, or by an orphaned managed database role, are now reassigned to the unprivileged `cozystack:orphaned` role instead of the `postgres` superuser. A view or function of the removed role that ran with its owner's privileges can lose access it had through that role's grants or memberships. ``` <!-- This is an auto-generated comment: release notes by coderabbit.ai --> ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **Documentation** * Clarified that after restore, the first initialization releases undeclared managed databases without deleting their data and removes users not declared in the chart. * Removed users’ objects are reassigned to a restricted, non-login role. Grants and memberships are not preserved; functions use invoker rights, and PostgreSQL 15+ views are set to use invoker security. * Added guidance for finding eligible objects still owned by the PostgreSQL superuser for manual reassignment. * Declare a user in `users` to keep it; the chart will generate a new password. * **Bug Fixes** * Removed users’ objects are reassigned across connectable, non-template databases before their users are dropped. <!-- end of auto-generated comment: release notes by coderabbit.ai -->
