Mickaël Canévet dfd6b3da7e B #8214: Do not clear ETHx_* context variables on NIC detach if NETWORK is not YES
When a NIC is detached, its ETHx_* variables are removed from the VM CONTEXT
whatever the value of NETWORK is. With NETWORK=NO, OpenNebula does not generate
those variables: they are defined by the user, and nothing generates them back
when the NIC is attached again. Guests that read their network configuration
from the CONTEXT at every boot lose their network.

Only clear them when NETWORK=YES, the same condition generate_network_context()
uses to decide whether OpenNebula manages them.

Description

OpenNebula is an open source cloud management platform for building and operating private clouds, edge infrastructures, distributed cloud deployments, and AI Factories.

It provides a unified platform to manage Virtual Machines, Kubernetes Clusters, and GPU-accelerated workloads across on-premises, edge, and hybrid environments through a simple yet powerful cloud operating model.

OpenNebula Architecture

Key Features

  • Unified Cloud Management – Manage virtualized, containerized, and AI workloads from a single platform.
  • Flexible Access Interfaces – Web UI, CLI, REST API, Terraform provider, and automation tools.
  • Federated Architecture – Operate distributed infrastructures across multiple sites and regions.
  • Built-in High Availability – Increase resilience and reduce operational downtime.
  • Kubernetes Integration – Deploy and scale Kubernetes Clusters with integrated lifecycle management.
  • Automated Infrastructure Provisioning – Create and expand cloud environments on demand.
  • Secure Multi-Tenancy – Role-based access control, quotas, isolation, and governance capabilities.
  • AI Factory Platform – Support for GPU workloads, model training, LLM inference, and AI services.
  • Marketplace – Ready-to-use virtual appliances and service templates.
